Learning About the Wii Virtual Console

The Nintendo Company can easily be considered as the most popular video game company in the world, and the games that they have produced in the past have been great, but none have compared to the Wii video game console that they recently came out with. It has features and qualities unlike any other that they previously produced.

The Wii video game console is the newest console to be launched by the Nintendo Company, and the Wii virtual console is one of the accessories that are offered with it. the Wii virtual console, which is also often know as the VC, is a specialized part of the Wii Shop, the Wii Shop being a particular video game download service that is presently offered for the Wii gaming console.

What the Wii Virtual Console Does

The Wii virtual console is able to do quite a few things in fact, namely it allows Wii owners to be able to emulate past the Nintendo consoles and purchase games that were previously released for various other Nintendo systems. This includes the favorites, such as NES, SNES, and N64.

As of only January 2007, there have already been over 1.5 million games that have been purchased involving the Virtual console, and only a few months later, in June 2007, it was reported that 4.7 million virtual console games had already been downloaded on top of that.

The Critics

Although for the most part the Wii virtual console has been praised by Nintendo lovers, there are certain critics who believe that it is nothing but a waste of time and money. They believe that the collection is so littered with vintage titles that were not even worth three bucks the first time around, and that the milestone reached by the virtual console is nothing more than an artificially inflated number used to attract the customers attention.

Over the past few recent months, after all, Nintendo has stepped aside and let third party publishers beef up the virtual console library, and it is thought that this is the typical Nintendo mindset, to make commuters wait longer for what they want because it might be exciting when it is actually available.

However these critics point out that this is also the same thought that Nintendo had in the early 2000s, and they almost got kicked out of the video game hardware market as a result.

Overall, basically it all depends on whether you like it and think its worth the money or not, and this is what should make you decide whether or not you should buy it.
